According to the Oxford Dictionary, Manage stems linguistically from an Italian word that means leading/handling the horses. Leading the horses is a beautiful image, it conveys the notion of a leader and a group of animals that follow. Unfortunately, the term management has experienced an almost inflationary popularity and is used to describe the management of animate subjects and inanimate objects.
Good definition from a source to be quoted properly: “Management can be thought of as a noun: actors who aspire to influence the behavior or performance of a system” - slightly paraphrased. This statement expresses system thinking, contains actors and an element of force. But this definition also misses the more specific aspects of business management.
